Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression happens locally with Canvas, so files never leave your device and no server is involved. Image Compressor handles JPG, PNG and WebP files.
Can I choose the output format?
Yes. The default is Keep original — a JPG stays JPG and a PNG stays PNG. Switch to WebP for a smaller file (typically 25-35% below JPG at equal visual quality, and far below PNG). Use the converter if you need a different format. You can compress files one at a time with Image Compressor.
Will quality drop noticeably?
At 80% quality the difference is usually invisible and that is the recommended default. Drop to 50-60% for maximum savings. Image Compressor keeps the original dimensions unless you resize as well.
How much smaller will my file get?
On a 1280x960 photo we measured about 44% savings for JPG at 80% quality and about 87% for PNG converted to WebP. Image Compressor shows the before and after size before you download.
Is there batch compression?
One image at a time for now. Because processing is local and never queued, going file by file is quick — 3 credits per export. Compare two compression levels before you commit to the smaller file.
Why can a PNG get bigger?
PNG is lossless and the browser ignores the quality parameter when re-encoding, so complex photos can grow. For photos, switch Output format to WebP. Image Compressor results download straight to your device.
Any file size limits?
Up to 10MB and 8000px per side. The page tells you immediately if a file is too large.
How is this different from TinyPNG?
We never upload, never queue and never see your images, and you pick the output format yourself (original format by default) — we never rewrite it behind your back.
